These reggae stalwarts give accurate description of roots and reality reggae artiste and songwriter Ishabel’s songs and spitfire performances have been seeping into the consciousness of audiences and listeners locally and internationally. Her voice is often compared to top reggae icons Marcia Griffiths ,Judy Mowatt and R&b Icon Tina Turner.
Isha bel started out professionally in former Jamaican female group 4th Street Sista,with the group she appeared in several newspapers ,performed on top shows such as sumfest , featured in advertisements and the group has a cameo role in the Movie One love. She was also background vocalist for a number of reggae artistes such as Warrior King , Lms, Morgan Heritage, Tanya Stephens Norris Man, Iley dred, Andrew Tosh , Droop Lion and Jah Bouks. She also worked in the other areas of the media and entertainment industry.
After a long break, she returned to doing music full time producing some of her music as well as working with a number of producers . In 2011 Everton Caveman Moore invited her to sing harmonies on Sizzla’s grammy shortlisted album “The Chant “. A music comradery developed ,Isha Bel socially conscious thinking blended well with the Rastafarian principles of the Caveman Family. She recorded a number of singles including Domestic Problems , Only God Knows, In My House, No police, African Woman : sang harmonies on numerous projects. She was also one of the main directors in Caveman Family Reggae Kulcha Shock concert series in 2013. She also collaborated and wrote numerous songs with Reggae artiste Wild Life whom she met at Caveman studios ,he also introduced her to a number of international producers.
The radio release of her song “No call the Police” signaled the re-emergence of Isha bel .DJ Jacko of Bess Fm heard the track and start playing it. “No call the Police” won Irish and Chins 45 sound clash competiton in 2013..
Through the support of Uk Labels Unrulee Records and Conscious Sounds Isha bel Music is growing internationally.Songs recorded with the labels included They should Know, Maad, Bless Jah Holy Name and blessings . The songs are available on vinyl and downloads .She has also recorded with other local and international producers such as Computer Paul (boot camp records) , More Love Music (Italy) Yard Art Music (Ger)plus more. Another single “Mother “ from dub poet Fikre Selassie featuring Isha bel was chosen as the Official Mother day song by Bess 100 fm Jamaica in May 2014 .. The single was produced by Bongo Herman music created by Sly and Robbie ,Winston Bo Peep Bowen.
The releases are available on vinyl and download sites such as itunes.
Ishabel appearance and offstage persona belies the determined woman on a mission she is. She is like the calm eye of an hurricane until she has a mic in her hand . Like her music,her performances are well received. Her soaring vocals reached into the soul of audiences. She performed on several shows including the recently concluded Irie Fm’s Black History Month Festival where her entire performance was broadcasted live on radio’s,Rita Marley Foundation Youth Symposium Bob Marley

Currently she is preparing song s for her upcoming ep and album which will be released in 2015. The album features productions from Computer Paul, Alla Lloyd, Isha bel ,Caveman .
Isha bel grew up in gritty East Kingston . East Kingston has a rich music history and it is also the birthplace of reggae icons Count Ozzie, Jacky Mittoo and Fred locks.Raised by Christian parent s, she and her 5 siblings attended church religiously, she performed at concerts and entered competition. Music and the pen was her outlet because she was largely a spirited child who often got in trouble she didn’t quite fit into the ideals of her upbringing .
Her music is a narrative of the her upbringing taken from the perspective of a woman who is searching for truth and balance . The songs are thought provoking and inspiring. She best describes her music as pretty gritty, tough rootsy, rubadub, soul stating that “I could not grow up in community like East Kingston which often have your emotions perching on the edge and write only pretty song. It would be a betrayal of my very spirit.
Some of her influences include Peter Tosh , I threes, Louise Bennett, Tina Turner
